Montgomery, Texas is a city located in Montgomery County, approximately 50 miles north of Houston. It is a more rural area, with only about 1,000 people living within the city limits. The area was first settled in 1837 and incorporated in 1848. Some claim that Montgomery is where the Lone Star Flag was created, giving the city the nickname “Birthplace of the Texas Flag.”
